About the Role
Sandwell Youth Service aims to provide personal learning and development for all young people in Sandwell, delivering a range of provisions including Centre Based, Detached and specialised youth work teams across the six towns in the borough.
Position Summary
This is a two‑year fixed‑term Senior Youth Officer role, supporting young people to succeed by delivering high‑quality youth work. The post requires working mainly in the evenings, with at least three evenings a week and occasional weekend work.
Responsibilities
- Lead on targeted youth provision, managing, planning, delivering and evaluating services and activities in a variety of settings.
- Work alongside other youth workers to meet the needs of vulnerable young people across Sandwell.
- Ensure the voice of young people is represented in the services provided.
- Support the development of youth work programmes and projects, operating within relevant policies and practices.
- Possibly supervise or mentor junior staff.
Requirements
- JNC degree level qualification, with experience in managing and developing youth work programmes and projects.
- Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good understanding of relevant youth and child protection policies.
- Enhanced DBS with Children’s Barring List Check.
- Require 37 hours per week (including evenings and occasional weekends).
