We are seeking a high-caliber Qualified Humanities Teacher (QTS) with a dual specialism in Sociology and Religious Education (RE) for a permanent position at our partner school in Diss, commencing this September. This role is designed for a practitioner who can inspire students to think critically about power, identity, and faith in the 21st century. As a permanent member of the staff, you will play a crucial role in shaping the moral and social development of the next generation.
Your Responsibilities
- Sociology Excellence: Lead the delivery of Sociology at KS4 and KS5 (A-Level), covering core topics such as Education, Families and Households, and Research Methods with academic rigor.
- Religious Education: Deliver engaging RE lessons across KS3 and KS4, exploring world religions, philosophy, and ethics, and preparing students for GCSE examinations.
- Critical Inquiry: Foster a classroom culture of respectful debate, where students evaluate evidence and deconstruct social and religious narratives.
- Curriculum Design: Contribute to the development of schemes of work that reflect contemporary societal shifts and diverse global perspectives.
- Data-Informed Pedagogy: Utilise assessment data to track progress, particularly for A-Level Sociology cohorts, implementing interventions to ensure top-tier results.
- Pastoral Stewardship: Act as a Form Tutor, providing consistent guidance and support to students within the school's community-focused pastoral system.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A degree in Sociology, Religious Studies, Theology, or a related Social Science/Humanities discipline.
- Analytical Versatility: The ability to teach two distinct but complementary subjects with equal passion and expertise.
- Inclusive Communication: Exceptional skills in facilitating sensitive discussions around race, class, gender, and religion in a balanced and objective manner.
