Location: West Yorkshire. Sector: Civil Engineering – Environmental & Water.
The Role
We are working with a well‑established civil engineering contractor to recruit a Project Manager to deliver a portfolio of design & build projects across the environmental and water sectors. This is a hands‑on position overseeing projects from early stages through to completion, with full responsibility for time, cost, and quality performance. Projects are regionally based, typically within Yorkshire and surrounding areas (within approximately 1.5 hours of Wakefield).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full project lifecycle from design through to delivery
- Coordinate design consultants, site teams, and subcontractors
- Deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to specification
- Develop, monitor, and update project programmes
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Work closely with commercial teams to monitor cost and value
- Identify and drive value engineering opportunities
- Ensure compliance with HSE and quality standards
Essential
- Proven experience delivering civil engineering projects
- Engineering background (civil or mechanical preferred)
- Strong understanding of programme management and sequencing
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders
- Confident overseeing time, cost, and quality
Desirable
- Experience in the water and/or environmental sectors
- Exposure to design & build project environments
- Some commercial or contractual awareness (e.g. NEC)
- Experience delivering projects in the £500k – £5m range
