Senior Transport Planner (Development Planning)
Location: Manchester
Salary: £45,000-£50,000 per annum, dependent on experience
My client is a well-regarded transport planning consultancy with an established presence in development planning, supporting residential, commercial and mixed‑use schemes nationwide.
This Senior Transport Planner role is ideal if you enjoy managing projects, engaging with clients, and delivering robust development planning advice within a collaborative consultancy environment.
Responsibilities
- Managing development planning projects from initial feasibility through to approval.
- Preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
- Undertaking junction modelling and technical analysis.
- Liaising with local authorities and key stakeholders to negotiate outcomes.
- Attending client and design team meetings.
- Supporting and mentoring graduate and consultant‑level staff.
- Contributing to proposals and business development activities.
As a Senior Transport Planner, you will combine hands‑on technical delivery with increasing project leadership responsibility.
Qualifications
- Proven experience within development planning transport consultancy.
- Strong technical capability in Transport Assessments and modelling software.
- Experience negotiating with local authorities.
- Project coordination and client‑facing experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Progress towards Chartership or a relevant professional qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
