About the role

BCIS is looking for a Construction Data Analyst (Quantity Surveyor) to help shape the data and insights that underpin decision-making across the UK construction sector.

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of data analysis, construction economics and digital innovation, contributing to datasets and products that are widely used and trusted across the built environment.

You will work with large, complex datasets covering construction costs, pricing and market trends, transforming data into meaningful insights that inform how projects are planned, costed and benchmarked. Alongside this, you will collaborate with data engineering and product teams to help develop and evolve BCIS data products, translating industry knowledge into clear, actionable requirements.

This role offers the chance to contribute not just to analysis, but to the ongoing development of data-driven products that support the future of the construction industry.

Key responsibilities

• Validate and analyse construction project cost data from a range of sources using in-house systems
• Identify trends, anomalies and actionable insights within datasets
• Support the production of BCIS indices, benchmarking tools and industry reports
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to enhance and develop BCIS data products and systems
• Contribute to product development by identifying gaps and opportunities in the construction data market
• Translate industry expertise into clear requirements for technical teams, ensuring alignment with BCIS strategic objectives
• Support the development and refinement of data models and methodologies
• Work closely with economists, surveyors and product teams to enhance data-driven outputs
• Produce clear visualisations and summaries for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Maintain high standards of data quality and documentation

About you

Essential:

• Experience in construction cost benchmarking and data analysis
• Knowledge of construction costs, quantity surveying and the built environment
• Strong interest in data analytics, emerging technologies and AI in construction
• High attention to detail and commitment to data quality
• Ability to interpret and communicate data clearly
• Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field (e.g. data science, economics, construction, mathematics, statistics)

Desirable:

• Experience working with large or complex datasets
• Understanding of economic indicators or index production
