THE ROLE
The Brake Emissions Attribute Engineer will be responsible to support the definition, development and integration and delivery of new brake systems to meet current and future brake emissions regulations. This role will support the brake emissions attribute at vehicle and system level and contribute to delivery across programmes from concept through to production and lifecycle management for all client vehicles.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Act as an attribute engineer for brake emissions across all vehicle programmes
- Support the translation of legislative and brand requirements into technical requirements and targets.
- Support the development of the Friction Couple to achieve and demonstrate emissions compliance.
- Maintain vehicle and rig test plans and support certification activities.
- Understand and assess trade offs with other braking attributes, control strategies and customer vehicle duty cycles.
- Define and oversee lab and vehicle level emissions testing and develop test methodologies.
- Maintain a strong awareness and understanding of current and emerging global brake emissions legislation.
- Support the introduction of new technologies (eg. Coated Discs, alternative friction materials and by wire systems)
- Contribute to technology roadmaps and future Body of Knowledge including requirements and standards development.
EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE
Essential:
Hard Skills:
- Relevant experience in automotive industry in vehicle systems (braking, propulsion, steering)
- Ability to process and analyse test data in various formats.
- Understanding of vehicle attributes and manage complex
- Ability to understand legislative requirements and generate requirements and test cases.
Soft Skills:
- Ability to work independently and proactively, taking full ownership and responsibility for own work; fully invested in achieving a successful result.
- You view things as a team rather than individual project level, considering the wider team needs.
- Clear and Confident Communicator, able to present technical content.
- Good project management and time management skills
Desirable:
Hard Skills:
- Working knowledge network technologies and principles including the different in vehicle networks, ECUs, electronics and their use within automotive applications.
- Knowledge of Agile working practices
- Vehicle instrumentation and testing experience
