Technical Design Assistant

We're hiring — Technical Design Assistant ZedWorks | Hailsham, East Sussex | £30–34k | 4.5-day week

This is a workshop-based role. We design, fabricate, and install bespoke steel staircases and architectural metalwork — everything in-house, from the first Rhino model to the final weld. We're looking for someone who finds that genuinely exciting.

ZedWorks is a precision, design-led studio in East Sussex with a portfolio spanning private residences, balustrades, and public realm Cor-Ten commissions for the National Gallery and London Borough projects. Small team. High standards. Work that ends up in buildings.

The role

You'll work directly with Amir, our lead designer, across the full project lifecycle — from early design development through to fabrication documentation and installation coordination.

Day to day that means: developing technical drawings and fabrication details in Rhino, supporting surveys and site visits, and coordinating with architects, engineers, and contractors on live projects. Studio-based in Hailsham, with occasional London travel.

You'll suit this role if you:

• Have a background in product design, industrial design, furniture, or a related making discipline or architecture with a genuine interest in how things are physically built
• Have used Rhino, or are serious about learning it
• Are detail-obsessed and care about how things are made, not just how they look
• Want to grow within a small studio rather than disappear into a large one

Based in Hailsham, East Sussex | Occasional London travel 4.5-day week £30,000–£34,000 depending on experience
