This is an exciting opportunity, for a substantive full‑time consultant Interventional Radiologist to join the IR department at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This post is a cross‑site position encompassing our two hospitals in the Trust: Aintree Hospital and Royal Liverpool Hospital.
The appointment offers the opportunity to join a well‑established team of 12 dedicated consultant interventional radiologists, covering a wide gamut of procedures including, but not limited to, peripheral arterial work and EVAR (jointly delivered with vascular surgery), embolization (PAE/UFE), hepatobiliary intervention, dialysis access, TACE, ablation (MWA, IRE and cryoablation), SIRT, as well as other typical IR procedures associated with a university teaching hospital.
In addition to providing typical outpatient and acute services as expected from a university teaching hospital, we are also a level I trauma centre, fulfilling RCR requirements for 24‑hour IR cover.
The successful candidate will have completed formal training in interventional radiology, and will be expected to offer a wide range of general and emergency interventional procedures.
The appointee will also be expected to contribute to the work in the main interventional radiology department, including IR consultant of the day, vetting, US intervention and vascular/IO reporting in addition to allocated sessions in the angio suite.
Their duties will also include joining an IR on call rota (currently 1:8 at each of the base sites; frequency may change with service reconfigurations).
During the 1.5 allocated SPAs (1 SPA can be taken off‑site), the post holder will be expected to contribute to the management, training and research activities of the department.
The post holder may be required to provide an IR opinion/cover regarding percutaneous drainages/pseudoaneurysm management at the Wednesday Pancreatic MDTM.
The post is based at Aintree Hospital and Royal Liverpool.
