As Engineering Manager for Information Security, you’ll lead a multi‑skilled engineering team, owning end‑to‑end security products for Web proxy and Email gateway, across Change and Run activities. You’ll drive progress with Product Owners, influence outcomes and recruit, retain and motivate your team.
With a constant focus on customer value, you’ll balance daily delivery of technical development and service while proactively planning ahead to mitigate risks and maximise opportunities. You will also contribute to engineering practice improvements, including frameworks and tools to support continuous improvement.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Recruit diverse teams of exceptional talent that fit the business culture.
- Mentor and coach colleagues using your expertise as a Security Engineer.
- Shape a world‑class Information Security engineering function by applying cutting‑edge processes and technologies.
- Ensure the team possesses and develops the right skills by understanding product requirements and enhancing deployment.
- Work with Product Managers to define product objectives and technical direction.
- Deliver technical milestones for each product in line with the Product strategy.
- Collaborate with vendors and strategic partners for all change‑related activities.
- Act as the technical authority for Gateway Security domains, including Web Security, Email Security, Secure Internet Access, and PKI.
- Encourage and facilitate communities of practice to share best practice across engineering teams.
- Advocate and embed Agile/lean delivery methodologies and understand Agile ways of working.
- Manage and deliver against initiative‑level budgets in partnership with Product.
- Transition products into BAU support and oversee SLA, DORA metrics, and change, problem, and incident management processes.
- Track and report financial data for your team, meeting targets and creating opportunities for value realisation.
- Lead and coach security engineers, building a culture that inspires strong team relationships.
- Hands‑on experience with languages, tools and infrastructure.
- Be self‑driven with a focus on continuous team development.
- Hold substantial experience leading engineering professionals in an Information Security environment or high‑tech company.
- Demonstrate experience with enterprise email security platforms, including anti‑phishing, malware detection and identity‑based protections.
- Understand cryptographic concepts and their application in large‑scale enterprise environments.
- Engage confidently in security architecture discussions with Risk, Architecture, Compliance and Engineering.
- Deliver large‑scale, distributed or complex platforms.
- Prioritise and focus to manage multiple deliveries across different areas.
- Exhibit attention to detail and foresee potential pitfalls.
- Manage Capex and Opex lines in the P&L.
