We have been continually expanding our GP training programmes to meet population health needs and have received additional funding to support some additional sessions across the SW GP training programme geography.

The available sessions are to be worked mainly Wednesdays and are available to support work in the following locations:

Cornwall - 4 hours / 1 session

Main duties of the job

The role of Training Programme Director is focused on the improvement of learner supervision, assessment, educational experience and outcomes and patient safety for GP trainees. This role is continuously evolving and will also focus on whole workforce transformation and developing multi‑professional links.

The successful applicant will work with other local TPDs and administrators to facilitate the provision of the half‑day release course for GPs in training.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to lead and be responsible for facilitating the provision of education for General Practice trainees in the specified GP training programme. This role will also include important work with our Educational and Clinical Supervisors to support and help them provide good quality supervision and education for trainees.

The role may involve delivery and oversight of projects and workstreams to support doctors in training and practice‑based educators, including induction, one‑to‑one support, small group work, developing educational resources, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion within our training programme and being an escalation point for both educators and DiTs.
