Senior Design Engineer – Waste Networks Team (Finham, Coventry)
We are looking for an experienced design engineer to develop technical solutions for our waste network facilities from concept to handover. The role involves working with Project Managers, stakeholders and providing technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical aspects of feasibility and design for waste infrastructure projects, driving innovative, efficient and environment-friendly solutions.
- Carry out feasibility assessments within programmed timescales and budgets, including site visits, surveys and data analysis.
- Create civil designs and specifications covering health & safety, environment, buildability, customer impact, third‑party constraints, commissioning, operation, maintenance and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet customer and regulatory requirements (OFWAT, Environment Agency).
- Provide technical support, coaching and mentoring to team members and assist the Design Manager in developing individual capability.
- Undertake activities associated with Severn Trent’s role as Principal Designer under CDM regulations.
What You’ll Bring
A degree in civil engineering (desirable) and professional commitment as a member of an engineering Institute or progressing towards chartered status. Experience in the water industry, especially wastewater hydraulic modelling, is highly desirable. Strong stakeholder management, forward‑thinking, and problem‑solving abilities are required. A full UK driving licence is mandatory.
