Service Delivery Manager - Cancer Performance & Improvement
We're looking for a dynamic and experienced Service Delivery Manager to lead cancer performance and improvement across our Trust. You'll be at the heart of delivering the 28-day Faster Diagnosis Standard, ensuring patients get timely, high-quality care while driving service improvements and supporting our cancer teams.
Main duties of the job
What You'll Do
- Oversee cancer pathways, review patient progress daily, and identify diagnostic delays or gaps.
- Work with imaging and diagnostic services to ensure patients are on the right pathway.
- Line manage Pathway Navigators, supporting their development and performance.
- Analyse performance data, produce reports, and present trends to inform improvements.
- Chair PTL tracking meetings, elevate risks, and support operational decision-making.
- Lead training, awareness sessions, and stakeholder presentations on pathway performance.
- Contribute to service development, audits, and initiatives to meet national cancer standards.
About You
- Strong leadership and people management skills in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of cancer pathways, diagnostics, and national performance standards.
- Skilled in analysing data and using tools such as Qlik Sense.
- Collaborative, proactive, and passionate about improving patient experience.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Training in data analysis, service improvement, or quality improvement methodologies
Knowledge & Experience
- Significant experience working within NHS cancer services or pathway management
- Detailed knowledge of national cancer waiting times standards and cancer pathways
- Experience of performance management using PTL and cancer tracking systems
- Experience of data analysis and reporting to support service delivery
- Line management or supervisory experience
- Experience working with diagnostic services
- Experience of Somerset Cancer Registry and national cancer datasets
- Experience of chairing meetings and managing escalation processes
Skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to influence, negotiate, and challenge constructively
- Confident in presenting complex information to a range of stakeholders
- IT literate with experience of reporting systems
