Opportunities in Leeds
We’re growing our presence in Leeds. The modern, accessible office in the City Centre offers a supportive, flexible working environment. The majority of roles are available in Leeds, with hybrid collaboration with London-based colleagues and periodic travel to the London office.

A day in the role

A typical day starts with a stand-up alongside a cross-functional team of engineers and delivery stakeholders to review progress, surface blockers, and align priorities around deployments, platform stability, and upcoming releases. You’ll focus on hands-on technical work for assigned projects (e.g., refining CI/CD pipelines in GitHub, implementing infrastructure changes using Terraform, troubleshooting Azure services) across multiple environments (dev, uat, production) ensuring configurations are secure and aligned with best practices. As lead engineer, you’ll mentor other engineers, review pull requests, guide reusable patterns, and ensure engineering standards are applied. You may also document standards and progress tickets, and prepare for design reviews or security discussions.

In the afternoon, technical workshops or refinement calls focus on creating tickets mapping to project requirements, solution design, and security considerations. You’ll work with developers, architects, and delivery leads to agree on the best technical approach. Before logging off, you’ll tidy up the backlog and note upcoming meetings.

You will run features on the platform (e.g., deploying golden images, managing subscriptions, building resources, Kubernetes upgrades) and assist the Microsoft Power Platform and Azure Data teams with platform support.

The role requires solid development competency, experience in Agile and DevOps, mentoring and peer review, and the ability to advise on complex incidents.

Minimum Criteria

  • Experience of operating platforms in a controlled environment with strict change control.
  • Experience in managing Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience with Azure monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
  • Preference to work as part of a team rather than individually.

  • Automation scripting (e.g. Terraform).
  • Good knowledge of agile delivery methodologies and related toolsets such as Jira.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD Pipelines and DevOps toolchains.

Essential Criteria

  • A high level of integrity, organisation and self-motivation with a desire for self-improvement.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships and provide challenge where appropriate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to craft concise, informational user documentation.
  • Researching and developing solutions that expand, modernise or improve the service and technology portfolios, automate IT operations, reduce costs or increase levels of service, to demonstrate technical ownership.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience with SharePoint Online.
  • Good .NET and C# skills.
  • SSIS skills and data integration/migration software.
  • In-depth experience of solution delivery using the full Software Development Lifecycle, including Agile and DevOps with continuous delivery, automated testing, TDD and monitoring.
