This is a fantastic opportunity to work on innovative electro-mechanical products while playing a key role in taking designs from concept through to manufacture and certification.

Working within a close-knit, highly skilled team, you’ll have the chance to make a real impact while benefiting from the backing and global reach of a larger organisation.

The Role

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality design solutions and supporting projects across the full product lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing electro-mechanical systems (including switchgear) using 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks
  • Producing detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Conducting simulations (FEA/CFD) using tools such as SolidWorks Simulation and ANSYS
  • Building, testing, and developing prototypes for certification
  • Collaborating with global technical and manufacturing teams
  • Producing and updating technical documentation (installation, operation, and maintenance manuals)
  • Providing technical support across international group companies
  • Occasional international travel to customer and manufacturing sites for support, development, and training

About You

We’re looking for a hands-on, proactive engineer who enjoys seeing designs through from concept to production. You’ll ideally have experience in switchgear or electro-mechanical systems and be comfortable working across both mechanical and electrical disciplines.

You will also have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience using 3D CAD in a production environment
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365
  • Strong analytical skills, including hand calculations

Desirable Skills

  • SolidWorks (including simulation)
  • AutoCAD (2D electrical layouts and wiring diagrams)
  • ANSYS Maxwell or similar simulation tools
  • Experience with FEA/CFD software
  • Knowledge of international design/testing standards
  • Basic coding or automation skills (macros, microcontrollers, etc.)
  • Practical machining experience
  • Additional languages

What’s on Offer

  • Opportunity to work on global projects with international travel
  • A visible role within a growing business where your contributions matter
  • Clear career progression within a larger group structure
  • Early finish on Fridays

If you’re an engineer who enjoys a hands-on approach and wants to be part of a growing international business, this could be an excellent next step in your career.
