Staff Software Engineer | Golang & TypeScript/React | London (Hybrid) | Agentic AI

£120,000 + equity (flexible depending on experience)

We’re working with a fast-paced, early-stage startup building an agentic AI product designed to automate complex workflows and decision-making in real-world environments.

It’s still early, still messy in the right ways, and still a place where one strong engineer can have disproportionate impact!

The product sits in the agentic AI space, building systems that don’t just assist but actively carry out tasks, make decisions, and improve over time. That means a heavy focus on reliability, orchestration, and real-world performance rather than demo-ware.

The Role

You’ll join at a level where your influence goes beyond delivery, helping shape both the technical foundations and the product itself. This is a high ownership setting where engineers are expected to think deeply about the problem, not only the implementation.

• Take ownership of key parts of the platform, from concept through to delivery
• Drive architectural decisions across backend systems and services
• Partner closely with customers to inform product direction and feature development
• Operate with a high level of autonomy in a product-focused team
• Build scalable, performant systems used by modern B2B organisations

What You’ll Be Doing

• Working across backend and web layers using Golang, TypeScript, and AWS
• Designing and evolving system architecture to support growth and complexity
• Leading technical initiatives and setting direction for engineering work
• Building and maintaining RESTful APIs for both internal and external use
• Continuously improving backend systems and engineering practices
• Collaborating directly with users to ensure the product solves real problems

The kind of person who does well here takes ownership seriously, stepping into ambiguity and helping define the right solution rather than waiting for it to be handed over. You’ll likely be product-minded, comfortable making decisions without layers of process, and motivated by building something meaningful alongside other strong engineers.

Clear communication matters, as does the ability to influence without relying on hierarchy. This is a fast-moving environment where you’ll need to balance pace with quality and stay focused on outcomes.

What They’re Looking For

• Experience operating at Senior or Staff level with a strong IC background
• Track record of leading complex technical work or projects
• Strong backend experience, particularly with Golang and TypeScript
• Experience building and scaling systems in cloud environments (AWS or GCP)
• Solid understanding of system design and scalable architecture
• Ability to mentor and influence other engineers
• Experience working in fast-paced, product-led environments
