Role Title: Senior Manager, Risk Analytics (Interim)
Reporting to: Group Head of Capital, Liquidity & ALM

Purpose of this role: This role offers the right candidate a key position for the Athora Group in the Risk Function, leading work related to stress and scenario testing, risk appetite and economic capital. With the acquisition of the Pension Insurance Corporation Group and the redomiciliation of Athora Group to the UK, these areas need to be revisited and refreshed over the coming months. The role will work closely with one junior team member. The role has high visibility across the organisation, engaging with teams in all business units and across Group functions. The role will have regular access to the Group CRO and output will be shared with the Group Board and regulators. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with the right skills to advance their career.
Key Contribution Areas
- Solvency risk appetite
- Lead on refreshing Athora’s risk appetite on both a Bermuda EBS basis and Solvency UK, updating for changes to the Group entity structure
- Work with the First Line to enact the relevant model updates
- Draft papers for discussion at Management and Board level meetings
- Stress testing framework
- Define and implement a holistic approach to stress and scenario testing in collaboration with the First Line
- Source requirements from all stakeholders and produce a pragmatic set of stress tests
- Ensure scenario specifications are meaningful and communicable to stakeholders
- Draft relevant papers for agreement with management and Board
- Economic capital
- Maintain Athora’s Economic Capital framework documentation and associated standards
- Undertake analysis related to Economic Capital, including standard formula assessments, stress and scenario tests and risk appetite
- Tools and technology
- Support the handover of the Economic Capital tools to the First Line
- Maintain the Risk Management Platform (supported by Group IT) and the Risk MI tools
- Risk reporting
- Contribute to the monthly and quarterly cycle of risk reporting
- Answer ad hoc questions from senior management as needed

Functional/Technical Knowledge and Skills Required
- Experience in risk management or an actuarial function within an international business environment
- Minimum 5 years in a relevant role with significant responsibility in risk management, actuarial valuation, policy setting, Solvency II (Pillars I, II and III)
- Experience across multiple jurisdictions; life reinsurance is a plus
- Familiarity with prudential supervisors’ governance, risk management, actuarial function and internal controls in life insurance
- Advanced qualifications (FIA, CERA, ACA or similar)
- Highly computer literate – PowerPoint, Word, Excel; experience with database systems and Python is advantageous
