A leading global hedge fund is seeking to appoint a Senior Credit Trader to join its London-based team. This is a senior hire (Director level and above) within a well-established platform investing across the capital structure, with a particular focus on high yield, stressed and distressed credit, and special situations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in executing and sourcing opportunities across a broad spectrum of credit instruments, including corporate bonds, leveraged loans, CDS, claims, and reorganisation equity. The fund has a global mandate with a strong emphasis on European credits, while actively trading across both developed and emerging markets internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute trading strategies across liquid and illiquid credit instruments, with a focus on high yield and distressed situations
- Partner closely with Portfolio Managers to identify, evaluate, and implement investment opportunities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with sell-side counterparties, including trading desks, syndicate, and restructuring teams
- Source differentiated trade ideas through an established network of banks, advisors, restructuring firms, and legal professionals
- Provide initial screening and light fundamental analysis of potential investments
- Maintain active dialogue with primary markets desks to access new issue flow and secondary trading opportunities
- Contribute to building the fund’s market presence and reputation within the credit trading ecosystem
Candidate Profile
- Extensive experience trading credit products within a hedge fund, investment bank, or credit-focused platform
- Strong track record across high yield, stressed, and/or distressed credit markets
- Deep understanding of capital structures and restructuring processes
- Established network across sell-side trading desks, syndicate, and restructuring/workout teams
- Commercial mindset with the ability to originate and execute ideas independently
- Strong judgement, risk awareness, and ability to operate in a dynamic, opportunistic environment
