Job Purpose
The Group Financial Controller, reporting to the CFO, will have responsibility for ensuring the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial information across the business and supporting business growth. In a PE‑backed SaaS environment, the role combines hands‑on execution with investor‑facing reporting and exposure.
Main Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Oversee timely month‑end close, GAAP/IFRS‑compliant financial statements, and revenue recognition (FRS102 & IFRS 15)
- Manage accounts payable/receivable and payroll
- Short‑ and medium‑term cash flow management and forecasting
- Ensure accurate capitalisation of development costs under FRS 102
- Maintain scalable finance systems (NetSuite or similar) and lead the adoption of AI
Investor Relations
- Prepare board packs and reporting to PE investors, Audit Committee and lenders
- Regular communication with PE investors and lenders
- Lead finance preparation and execution support for transaction readiness
Tax & Compliance
- Oversee all statutory and tax filings globally
- Serve as the primary contact for auditors
- Manage R&D tax credit claims and coordinate with specialist advisers
- Administer equity incentive schemes and IFRS 2 accounting
Commercial Partnership
- Partner with sales, product and operations leaders to drive commercial insight
- Translate financial data into actionable recommendations for the executive team
- Challenge assumptions and contribute to strategic decision‑making
- Lead and develop a high‑performing finance function as the business scales (current team of 5 direct reports)
- Establish internal controls and operational workflows
- Lead by example in leveraging AI to improve business processes
Requirements
Experience
- 8+ years in finance, including 3+ years at a senior finance level leading a team in a SaaS business
PE exposure
- Prior experience in a PE environment, with a strong understanding of private equity reporting and governance, strongly preferred
Technical
- Deep expertise in GAAP/IFRS, SaaS revenue recognition, R&D tax relief, and share‑based compensation accounting
Qualification
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
Systems
- Hands‑on experience with ERP platforms (NetSuite preferred) and use of AI within the finance function
Communication
- Ability to present complex financial information clearly to board and investor audiences and demonstrated ability to lead finance teams through high growth
