Salary: Base salary: £66,553pa to c£83,191pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer a flexible benefits fund of 20% paid on top of base salary and fully pensionable, plus a range of competitive benefits – see the benefits section on our website.

About the role
- Lead risk‑based engineering technical assurance within the IPT, ensuring compliance with HS2 technical requirements, standards, and policies.
- Assure design and construction of assets comply with technical and sponsor requirements through technical assurance reviews and contractor spot‑checks.
- Discharge duties of NEC3 Supervisor and Principal Designer (CDM 2015) as directed by the Head of Engineering and Environment.
- Support reporting and risk identification/mitigation of engineering matters.
- Represent the Head of Engineering and Environment on CDM, NEC3 or other technical duties.
- Communicate HS2 Engineering requirements to the IPT contractor.
- Provide guidance on design solutions, promote best practice and drive efficiencies.
- Collaborate with Commercial and Project Clients to assess cost and schedule impacts.
- Work with technical specialists to develop cost‑balanced mitigation strategies.
- Guarantee technical coordination and integration across supply, station, and railway contracts.
- Act as discipline engineer where recognised competence exists.
- Promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all work.

Knowledge
- UK construction regulations including CDM requirements.
- Regulatory/legislative framework relevant to HS2.
- Commercial awareness of cost delivery, schedule targets, and integrated solutions.
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent membership of a professional institution.
Experience
- Managing multi‑disciplinary engineering and safety standards on large complex infrastructure projects.
- Handling competing project and engineering demands with cost and schedule implications.
