Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer – Birmingham
About the job: We are seeking a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer to join our soon to be launched Birmingham office, working closely with our established Dublin team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the growth of our new UK hub while delivering major hyperscale data centre projects across the EMEA region. The role will initially be fully remote. Once the Birmingham office is operational, flexible attendance will be required as part of a hybrid working model.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the electrical services design for a range of projects.
- Design and specify electrical services for various types of buildings and sectors.
- Produce detailed schematics and establish electrical design standards within the organisation.
- Mentor junior engineering staff.
- Provide fully detailed tender packages and monitor installation/quality on site until project completion.
- Prepare tender reports/analysis/recommendations.
- Develop project scope together with the design team and clients.
- Use Microsoft Office, Autocad, Dialux, Amtech, and Revit confidently.
- Produce budgets and reports for clients.
- Attend site visits.
- Take lead on projects with minimal input from management.
About you
- Honours degree; Chartered status is an advantage but not essential.
- 10+ years as a senior electrical engineer.
- Extensive experience in electrical building services design for data centre projects.
- In-depth knowledge of ETCI, CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS and EN standards.
- Proficient with Autocad, Dialux, Amtech and Revit.
- Strong communication and project leadership skills.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
