Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced IoT Engineer to join our team at Wabtec UK where we support our customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains.

How will you make a difference?

As an IoT Engineer at Wabtec, you will make a direct impact by enabling secure, reliable, and scalable connectivity between transit hardware and cloud platforms—turning complex sensor and device data into actionable intelligence. Your work will strengthen Wabtec’s IoT and Smart Data product line by improving system reliability, cyber security, and data-driven insights across transit operations

What will your typical day look like?

  • Drive operational impact and service improvement by translating on‑site system insights into reliable edge and IoT solutions that strengthen IoT and Smart Data services.
  • Improve delivery quality and release confidence through strong software engineering, testing expertise, disciplined planning, and close collaboration with development teams.
  • Accelerate problem‑solving and innovation by proactively identifying blockers, engaging cross‑functional stakeholders, and designing scalable, best‑practice solutions using critical analysis.
  • Support sustainable growth and efficiency by maintaining high‑quality documentation, clean source control, and a continuous‑learning mindset that keeps skills aligned with evolving business needs.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Proven work experience as an IoT Engineer.
  • Familiarity in using version control systems such as Git, etc. with understanding of branching/merging models in Git.
  • Exposure to Agile methodology and working with Agile development teams.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of cloud services and best practices.
  • GoLang.
