As Centralis continues to grow both organically and through acquisition, the volume and depth of both client service delivery data and internal functions data has also grown – as this evolves, additional governance and controls are required to continue to derive meaningful insights from our data and support the business as it scales. Centralis has already invested in its data capabilities, however we are looking to take this capability to the next level.
Centralis are seeking an experienced Data Architect Lead, whose primary responsibility is to own and evolve the Centralis Fabric platform. This role reports into the Group Head of IT and will work closely with the CFO, CCO and Group Head of Transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the target architecture and roadmap for Microsoft Fabric as Centralis’ authoritative Group data warehouse (including domain onboarding, data products, and platform evolution).
- Define and govern our architecture standards and reference patterns across the Microsoft data ecosystem (Fabric, Power Bi, Synapse-style workloads, Dataflows, Pipelines etc.).
- Specify and assure non-functional requirements for the warehouse platform (security, access controls, performance, reliability, cost management, and operational SLAs).
- Design and oversee data ingestion and integration patterns (APIs, batch/streaming feeds, CDC where appropriate), ensuring traceability through metadata, lineage, and monitoring.
- Continuously improve platform architecture by evaluating new capabilities (e.g., Fabric features), running proofs of concept, and industrializing what delivers measurable value.
Data Governance & Controls
- Strengthen and formalize the Group data governance framework (ownership model, policies, shared standards, quality KPIs, business glossary/data dictionary, lineage, and controls).
- Promote Microsoft Fabric as the primary governed analytics layer and curated source of truth for the Group’s reporting and analytics.
- Champion a culture of data stewardship by enabling data owners and SMEs, driving adoption of standards, and ensuring critical data models are documented and maintained.
Analytics, Insights & Visualization
- Enable self-service analytics by delivering curated, well-modelled datasets and semantic layers, and by defining reporting patterns and guardrails.
- Partner with Analytics/BI colleagues to translate use‑cases into scalable data products (facts/dimensions, marts, and semantic models) that support trend, risk, and performance analysis.
- Drive consistent metric definitions, semantic model governance, and reporting standards across the Group.
Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Take ownership and set direction and ensure consistency for analytics, insights and visualisation across the Group Data Function, guiding engineers/analysts on modelling and best practices, and chairing architecture/design reviews as needed.
- Work closely with the CFO, CCO, Group Head of Transformation, and senior stakeholders to shape priorities, define the data roadmap, and ensure adoption of the target architecture.
- Represent the Data Function confidently with both technical and non‑technical audiences, clearly articulating architectural options, trade‑offs, and decisions.
- 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, enterprise data management, or data warehousing (industry or consultancy), leading teams and delivering to C‑suite stakeholders.
- Subject matter expert, in designing and operating enterprise data warehousing platforms (Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, Azure).
- Subject Matter Expert, in Power Platform which includes applications like Power Automate, Power Bi Online, Power Query.
- Proven data modelling capability (conceptual, logical, and physical), including dimensional modelling (Kimball) and/or Data Vault, with strong SQL skills.
- Experience delivering secure, external‑facing data products or analytics solutions (authentication/authorization, row‑level security, and controlled data sharing).
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of data governance, data ownership models, metadata/lineage, and enterprise data management practices.
- Ability to translate business needs into data architecture artefacts (principles, standards, target‑state designs, and roadmaps).
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain architectural options and trade‑offs to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration skills and previous experience working with both business and technical teams.
- Experience in financial services/fund administration with exposure to private equity.
- Good understanding of non‑functional design for data platforms (security, privacy, performance, resiliency, and cost management).
Qualifications
- Minimum BSc degree in a numerical discipline (e.g. Statistics, Maths, Computer Science, Finance)
- Qualifications in Data Analysis
