Infrastructure Engineer

The University of Northampton's Infrastructure Engineer supports and develops the IT infrastructure, working closely with colleagues across IT, the wider university, and third‑party suppliers. You will be part of the Systems team, helping maintain reliable, secure infrastructure services and continuously improve systems and processes in line with the university’s digital strategy.

This hands‑on role is in a fast‑paced educational environment, suitable for someone with technical foundations and a genuine interest in infrastructure technologies. The job provides 2nd and 3rd line support for infrastructure‑related incidents, service requests, and problems affecting both staff and students. It involves delivering business‑as‑usual activities alongside project work as assigned by senior engineers and the team manager.

Working hours are 37 hours per week with occasional on‑call rota, rotated around the team with some out‑of‑hour requirements.
