Qualifications & Requirements

  • Recruitment through Safer Recruitment process: formal interview, references, mandated review.
  • DBS or Access NI check required.
  • Complete formal induction and sign‑off process, including mandatory training within first 6 months: live classroom sessions, e‑learning, system and policy training, safeguarding, inclusion, GDPR, cybersecurity.
  • Ongoing local support from the allocated Community Support Coordinator (CSC).

Responsibilities

  • Offer emotional support to people living with or affected by MND.
  • Signpost and provide helping, relevant information to enable access to appropriate services and support.
  • Attend virtual and/or face‑to‑face sessions regularly: peer support meetings, 1:1 sessions and other development events.
  • Handle data, take notes and produce simple reports using online systems.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other volunteers and staff across the local branch or group, including the CSC.
  • Adhere to all MND Association policies and procedures applicable to the role.
  • Travel may be required within an agreed area on an expense basis.
  • Time commitment varies: 1–4 hours per week.
