Cloud Platform Engineer

Duration: 6 Months (Initial) | Rate: Outside IR35

Location: South West – Hybrid

Clearance: Active SC Clearance (Mandatory)

We are seeking a Terraform Expert to lead a high priority infrastructure portability and recovery project. This contract focuses on Recovery Fitness ensuring enterprise environments are not just “up,” but fully codified and ready for rapid redeployment across regions or subscriptions.

The Technical Brief

• Expert-level azurerm and aws provider usage. Must demonstrate evidence of parameterisation patterns that allow the same codebase to deploy across different subscriptions, accounts, and regions without manual intervention.
• Expertise in Terraform recovery fitness assessments, identifying unmanaged resources and using aztfexport, terraformer, and import workflows to bring “click-ops” infrastructure into state.
• Mastery of remote backends and reconciling drift. Comfortable reading complex plan outputs to determine “what is real” versus “what is coded.”
• Designing state-aware pipelines (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps) using OIDC/Workload Identity and Policy-as-Code (Checkov, tfsec, or OPA).
• Deep experience with Azure Landing Zones (Management Groups/Subscriptions) and AWS Control Tower/Organizations (Cross-account IAM).
• High proficiency in Entra ID (Azure AD), App Registrations, and Active Directory forest architecture.

Submission Requirements

• Specific examples of reverse‑engineering an existing enterprise environment into Terraform.
• Experience handling specific provider versions and breaking changes in both Azure and AWS.
• Examples of building “deploy-anywhere” modules that abstract away environment-specific constraints.

Desirable

Previous experience in Cyber Recovery workstreams or Disaster Recovery testing.

Pay: 450.00 – 550.00 / day
