This role provides hands-on technical engineering support to the Engineering Manager, contributing to the successful delivery of process improvement and transformation projects across the site. The successful candidate will take ownership of developing and maintaining process documentation (including P&IDs), producing equipment schedules and technical specifications, and playing an active role in project delivery through contractor management, risk assessment, and procurement support. Working across both process and mechanical engineering disciplines, the Project & Process Engineer will ensure all project activity is executed safely, on time, and in line with relevant company policies and regulatory requirements, whilst proactively developing their own technical skills and knowledge.
Process Engineering Support
- Own the update and maintenance of Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) across both existing and new site processes, ensuring all documentation remains accurate and compliant with applicable site and industry standards. Full training will be provided.
- Keep equipment and component schedules aligned with current P&IDs, covering items such as pumps, valves, heat exchangers, pipework, and instrumentation.
- Review process designs and plant layouts to highlight opportunities for improvement and flag any potential risks or technical inconsistencies.
- Produce and review a range of technical documentation including specifications, data sheets, scopes of work, and engineering drawings.
- Deliver technical input and engineering support to the Engineering Manager throughout all phases of a project — from initial planning through execution to final close-out.
Transformation and Projects
- Play an active role in the end-to-end delivery of transformation and process improvement projects, from early concept development through to site commissioning.
- Support contractor selection processes, carry out technical evaluations, and coordinate contractor activity throughout installation and modification scopes.
- Take part in risk assessments, method statement reviews, and design safety reviews to ensure all project work is executed without incident.
- Assist in maintaining project schedules, monitoring progress against plan, and resolving technical queries and issues as they arise during delivery.
- Support the installation, testing, commissioning, and operational handover of new and modified equipment.
- Contribute to the procurement of equipment and services, including the evaluation of supplier bids and ongoing supplier engagement.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with suppliers and contractors to ensure technical requirements, programme expectations, and quality standards are upheld.
- Assist with the preparation of purchase orders, project cost monitoring, and the compilation of close-out documentation.
- Actively identify and support the implementation of improvements across processes, equipment, and plant reliability.
- Contribute to lessons learned reviews and help embed best practice outputs from completed projects into future ways of working.
- Support the ongoing development of engineering documentation standards and project delivery frameworks across the team.
