We’re looking for a driven and commercially minded Accounts Senior to join our team, working closely with SME clients and owner‑managed businesses. This is a varied, hands‑on role where you’ll go beyond the numbers, helping clients understand their finances, make informed decisions, and grow with confidence. You’ll be a key point of contact, building strong relationships and delivering high‑quality accounts and advisory support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare statutory accounts for a portfolio of SME and owner‑managed business clients, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Review the work of junior team members, offering guidance, mentorship, and ongoing support to help them develop.
  • Build lasting client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and sounding board for business decisions.
  • Manage your workload effectively to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards.
  • Identify opportunities to add value, whether through improving processes, offering insights, or supporting business growth.
  • Collaborate with managers, partners, and other teams to deliver a seamless client experience.
  • Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards and industry developments, bringing fresh insight to your work.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • AAT Level 4 qualified or ACA/ACCA part‑qualified, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a practice environment.
  • Strong experience in preparing statutory accounts for SMEs and owner‑managed businesses.
  • Good working knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.
  • Confident reviewing work and supporting junior team members with clear, constructive feedback.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and explain financial information clearly to non‑finance clients.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise effectively.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive mindset, with the confidence to identify opportunities to add value for clients.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
