Job Description
Role Title: Life Safety Systems – Quality Assurance Engineer
Location: Warrington or London
Role Purpose:
As a Life Safety Systems Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be technically focused on verifying that systems are designed, installed, tested, and documented correctly across our Life Safety System schemes.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Carry out testing, commissioning, and verification of fire and life safety systems, including:
- Fire alarm panels and associated devices
- Disabled refuge systems
- Gas suppression systems
- Aspirating Smoke Detection (ASD) systems
- GUI systems (e.g. Winmag, DRAX, Genesys)
- Identify, record, and manage snagging and defects, supporting resolution through to completion
- Undertake site surveys to support future works and project planning
- Review and verify the accurate completion of project records, including:
- O&M manuals
- Inspection & Test Plans
- Cause & Effect testing
- Inspection, Test, Installation, and Commissioning documentation
- Support the successful handover of complete Life Safety System projects to clients
- Ensure standardised commissioning procedures are consistently followed
- Produce high‑quality commissioning documentation, including:
- Commissioning Plans
- FAT / SAT documentation
- Completion reports
- Review drawings and diagrams, contributing to commissioning strategies aligned with client specifications
- Attend meetings with client engineering and operational teams
- Liaise effectively with suppliers and subcontractors throughout installation and commissioning activities
- Deliver client training, covering both operational and technical system use
- Apply industry best practice for fault‑finding and problem‑solving
- Contribute to and promote a safe and healthy working environment at all times
About You:
We’re looking for someone who demonstrates strong technical capability, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to safety and quality.
You will have:
- A working knowledge of BS 5839‑1:2025 requirements
- Knowledge of HTM 05 requirements
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- A proactive approach to technical problem‑solving
- An understanding of individual Health & Safety responsibilities, with the ability to work in line with company policies and procedures

- Level 3 FIA qualification or equivalent training
- Relevant ONC, City & Guilds, or NVQ qualification
- Proven industry experience within Life Safety Systems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
- SMSTS (preferred)
- Experience working in live hospital or healthcare environments
- SC Clearance (preferred)
