Role Title: Life Safety Systems – Commissioning Engineer
Business Unit: Asset Intelligence
Location: Warrington or London
Role Purpose
As a Life Safety Systems Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the testing, commissioning and verification of fire and security systems, ensuring works are completed safely, compliantly and in line with client and company standards. You will support the successful delivery and handover of Life Safety System projects, working collaboratively with clients, suppliers and internal teams.
What You Will Be Doing
- Carrying out testing and commissioning of fire and security systems, including:
- Fire alarm panels and associated devices
- Disabled refuge systems
- Gas suppression systems
- Aspirating Smoke Detection (ASD) systems
- GUI systems (e.g. Winmag, DRAX, Genesys)
- Identifying and reporting snagging and defects, supporting resolution where required
- Undertaking site surveys to support future works and planning
- Checking the correct completion of project documentation, including:
- O&M manuals
- Inspection & Test Plans
- Cause & Effect testing
- Inspection & Test Reports
- Installation and Commissioning documentation
- Assisting in the successful handover of complete Life Safety System projects
- Ensuring standardised commissioning procedures are followed
- Producing commissioning documentation, including:
- Commissioning Plans
- FAT / SAT documentation
- Completion reports
- Reviewing drawings and diagrams and providing strategies to commission equipment in line with client specifications
- Attending meetings with client engineering and operational teams
- Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors throughout the on‑site installation and commissioning process
- Delivering client training, covering both operational and technical competencies
- Applying industry best practice for fault finding and problem‑solving
- Contributing to and promoting a safe working environment at all times
About You
We are looking for someone who demonstrates strong technical capability, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to safety and quality.
You will have:
- Knowledge of BS 5839 requirements
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- A proactive approach to technical problem‑solving
- Awareness of individual Health & Safety responsibilities, working in line with company policies and procedures

Desirable
- Level 3 FIA qualification or equivalent training
- Relevant ONC, City & Guilds or NVQ qualification
- Industry experience working with Life Safety Systems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
- SMSTS (preferred)
- Relevant CSCS card(s)
- Honeywell Gent training to Advanced Level
