Role Summary
This role offers an opportunity for a Buyer to take ownership of a high-revenue product stream, combining traditional purchasing expertise with strong commercial awareness and data-driven decision-making. The Buyer will be responsible for managing demand, inventory, and supplier performance within a fast-paced environment, ensuring customer commitments are met while driving continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Role & Responsibilities of the Buyer
- Ensure all purchase orders raised accurately reflect demand and forecasted requirements against agreed stock levels and order quantities, using lean Plan For Every Part (PFEP) technique.
- Maintain efficient inventory control through accurate forecasting and timely ordering.
- Confirm purchase orders and maintain supplier promise dates to ensure sales order commitments are achieved.
- Build and sustain effective supplier relationships, negotiating optimal commercial terms and pricing.
- Review the customer order book and expedite supplier purchase orders to ensure on-time shipment of sales orders.
- Expedite with suppliers when required and clearly communicate any potential risks or issues to internal stakeholders.
Experience needed
- Experience working as a Buyer in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience using ERP/MRP systems to manage inventory and demand.
- Demonstrated capability in driving improvements through PFEP methodologies.
- Strong supplier relationship management and effective internal stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience expediting orders and validating supplier acknowledgements for accuracy.
- Ability to analyse data using Excel to identify supplier performance improvement opportunities.
- CIPS qualification or actively working towards one would be advantageous.
Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm and Friday 8am to 2pm (37.5 per week).
