The Role

As a Project Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the financial, commercial, and contractual aspects of projects from post-tender handover through to final account close-out. You'll work closely with Project Managers, Design Managers, subcontractors, and the wider commercial team to ensure value for money, contractual compliance, and cost control.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead subcontract procurement, from tender package preparation and analysis through to contract execution
  • Collaborate with project teams and design consultants to ensure tender information is complete, accurate, and value-engineered where possible
  • Manage and monitor project costs in line with budgets, preparing and updating cashflows and cost value reconciliations
  • Prepare, negotiate, and agree interim valuations, variations, and final accounts with clients and subcontractors
  • Carry out site measurements from drawings or on-site visits
  • Maintain accurate procurement trackers, change order registers, and cost reporting tools
  • Attend and contribute to project meetings, providing all necessary commercial information
  • Mentor and support assistant or graduate quantity surveyors as required

Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, ideally a RICS-accredited degree or be working towards MRICS chartership
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with a main contractor, ideally including Design & Build projects
  • Strong knowledge of UK construction contracts (JCT D&B preferred), building regulations, and commercial risk management
  • Familiarity with BCIS and elemental cost benchmarking
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, negotiation and time-management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and understand construction methods
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Valid CSCS card preferred
  • Willingness to travel to sites as required
  • Strong attention to detail and team-working capability
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
