Production Line Leader – Fresh Produce
Location: Colchester, CO7
Hourly Rate: £13.30 per hour
An established and fast-paced fresh produce business in Colchester is looking to recruit a Production Line Leader to support its day-to-day production activities.
This is a hands‑on role team leadership responsibilities, ideal for someone experienced in food manufacturing who can guide a team while maintaining high standards of quality and food safety.
In this position, you will take ownership of a fruit packing line, ensuring operations run smoothly and efficiently. You’ll play a key role in supporting colleagues, meeting production targets, and maintaining strict hygiene and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support packing line staff to ensure an efficient workflow
- Lead by example, motivating team members to meet daily packing targets
- Carry out hands‑on packing of fresh produce when required
- Ensure all orders are completed accurately and on schedule
- Monitor packaging processes to maintain quality and consistency
- Reduce waste across produce and packaging materials
- Maintain and improve BRC and food safety standards across the site
- Ensure full compliance with Food Hygiene, HACCP, Health & Safety, GDPR, Environmental Health, Modern Slavery, and HR policies
- Train and guide team members on processes, safety, and operational standards
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Team Leader or similar role within an industrial setting
- Experience within food manufacturing (essential)
- Strong understanding of HACCP and food safety regulations
- Confident leadership ability with experience managing a diverse workforce
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, target‑driven environment
- Full UK driving licence required
- Must have the right to work in the UK (valid visa where applicable)
Working Hours
- 5 days per week on a rota basis (Monday to Sunday)
- 07:30am – 5:00pm
- Flexibility required, including occasional shifts finishing at 8:00pm
