Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer

- Contract: Full-time, Permanent
- Hours: 40 hours per week
The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to support the production of flight‑critical aerospace components. This is a key position within a high‑precision manufacturing environment, ensuring the reliability and performance of advanced CNC milling and turning machinery.
Working within a strict AS9100 quality environment, you will bring both electrical and mechanical expertise, with the ability to diagnose complex faults and deliver effective maintenance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Reactive Maintenance: Diagnose and repair breakdowns on multi‑axis CNC machines (including Grob, AgieCharmilles, and Mazak) to support demanding aerospace delivery schedules.
- Electrical & Control Systems: Fault‑find to component level on Fanuc, Siemens, and Heidenhain controls, including servo drives and safety PLC circuits.
- Mechanical Maintenance: Perform complex mechanical work including strip‑down and rebuild of spindles, ball screws, bearings, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Conduct scheduled maintenance to ensure machines meet strict aerospace tolerance and calibration standards.
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate maintenance records and report KPIs in line with aerospace regulatory and health & safety standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Support Lean initiatives to reduce downtime and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Skills & Experience Required
- Level 3 NVQ/BTEC in Engineering or a completed apprenticeship
- 18th Edition qualification (highly desirable)
- Aerospace or high‑precision automotive manufacturing background
- Strong experience maintaining 3, 4, and 5‑axis CNC machinery
- Experience with Grob, AgieCharmilles, and Mazak highly advantageous
- Dual‑skilled engineer with strong electrical fault‑finding and mechanical maintenance capability
- Proactive and flexible approach to overtime and callouts
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
Working Pattern
- Monday to Thursday: 7:45am – 5:00pm (30‑minute lunch break)
- Friday: 8:00am – 1:00pm (no lunch break)
