About the Role
As a Buying Manager, you will be responsible for purchasing OOH media inventory at a competitive pricing in market, fuelled by intelligence from our in-house market analysis tools. You will ensure that business objectives and performance targets are delivered, which includes optimising media spend to maximise both long-term value and short-term savings for our clients. We expect you to nurture and maintain strong relationships with media owner partners that drive positive outcomes for both MX and our clients. You will be alert to market opportunities and translate these into growth drivers across the planning teams. It is important that you process bookings with accuracy in a timely manner and keep diligent tracking of spends that can be reported upwards to senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver buying targets through implementation of appropriate buying strategies
- Utilise our in-house market analysis tools to support effective negotiations with media owner partners for competitive advantage
- Track and regularly report upwards on delivery against all targets
- Maintain a clear market viewpoint at all times across occupancy, pricing and deals
- Identify market opportunities that will drive incremental client spend and support the planning team in pushing through for client conversion
- Provide regular updates to buying and planning teams that facilitate sharing of knowledge and opportunities that will drive incremental spend, value or savings for our clients
- Apply market knowledge and relationships to problem-solve and deliver resourceful solutions quickly and efficiently
- Communicate clearly and professionally across internal teams and external partners
- Stay calm under pressure and manage multiple priorities with precision
Skills & Attributes
- Experience in media buying (2 years+ is essential for application)
- Strong Negotiation Skills: Ability to secure competitive deals and maximise value
- Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of OOH and broader media landscape
- Analytical Ability: Interpret data and track performance against targets
- Highly Organised: Manage deadlines and workflows effectively
- Excellent Communication: Strong relationships internally and externally
- Solutions-Focused: Resourceful and proactive in resolving challenges
