In‑house Property Lawyer – 12-month Mat Cover

Holborn, London | Hybrid working

We are looking to appoint an In‑house Property Lawyer to join an established legal team, supporting the business across its national property portfolio.

This is a tenant‑side / occupier‑focused role, ideal for a commercial property solicitor who enjoys working closely with the business, providing pragmatic advice and enabling operational decisions rather than managing transactions at arm’s length.

The role

You’ll advise on a broad range of property matters, including:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial leases, agreements for lease and licences
  • Managing Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 renewals and terminations
  • Advising on lease surrenders, dilapidations and exit strategies
  • Negotiating tenant‑friendly lease provisions, including service‑charge protections
  • Handling occupier‑side portfolio queries and coordinating relocations
  • Instructing and managing external counsel where appropriate
  • Working closely with internal estates, finance and senior stakeholders

About you

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales
  • Strong commercial landlord and tenant experience, ideally from an in‑house or occupier‑led background
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy and exercising commercial judgement
  • Able to translate legal risk into clear, practical advice for non‑legal stakeholders
  • Experience within a complex organisation or portfolio environment is highly desirable

Worth noting

  • Genuine in‑house advisory role, not a transactional churn
  • Collaborative legal team with visibility across the business
  • Central London location with hybrid working
  • Opportunity to influence property strategy and operational decision‑making
