Kintec is supporting a leading international energy operator in the search for a Drilling Engineer to join their Wells team in Aberdeen.


This is a key role supporting the design, planning, and execution of offshore wells across the full lifecycle, from early concept through to execution and handover. You’ll play a critical role in delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective well solutions within a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.


Key Responsibilities:


Well Engineering & Design


  • Develop well designs, Basis of Design (BoD), and operational programmes
  • Support concept selection and optioneering activities
  • Apply fit-for-purpose design principles to optimise delivery and cost
  • Utilise modelling tools for casing, hydraulics, torque & drag, and directional drilling


Project Delivery


  • Provide engineering input across the full well lifecycle
  • Support operational readiness and execution, including well work instructions
  • Assist with regulatory submissions and approvals
  • Participate in troubleshooting and incident response


Cost, Risk & Assurance


  • Prepare AFE budgets and cost estimates
  • Identify and manage well-specific risks and mitigation plans
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Support QA/QC, technical assurance, and equipment verification


Stakeholder Management


  • Work closely with subsurface, subsea, project, and logistics teams
  • Interface with contractors, service companies, and vendors
  • Contribute to technical reviews, decision gates, and governance processes


What We’re Looking For


  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • IWCF or IADC Well Control certification (Supervisor level preferred)
  • Experience in offshore drilling engineering (rig or floating operations)
  • Strong background in well design, planning, and execution
  • Familiarity with EPC/EPCm environments and contractor interfaces
  • Proficiency with Landmark (or similar) and strong understanding of AFE/costing
  • Solid knowledge of regulatory compliance and engineering assurance
