A leading food retailer and wholesaler in the North West is seeking a Senior Trading Manager to take full ownership of one of its key ambient grocery categories. What you’ll be responsible for
- Owning the Buying & Category Strategy for your range in a predominantly brand-led category.
- Developing and launching compelling, competitive ranges that meet customer needs.
- Identifying, onboarding and managing suppliers, strengthening long‑term partnerships.
- Negotiating sharp cost prices, particularly across major FMCG brands, to maximise margin.
- Maintaining accurate contracts, price files and commercial documentation.
- Leading in‑season promotional planning to drive sales, margin and supplier income.
What we’re looking for
- An experienced Senior Buyer / Senior Trader from the FMCG retail or wholesale food sector, with experience of dealing with the bug branded suppliers in Ambient Grocery.
- Proven end‑to‑end category ownership with a track record of delivering commercial results.
- Strong supplier‑relationship and negotiation skills, with confidence in securing competitive terms.
- A curious, commercially minded operator who stays ahead of market trends and keeps customers at the heart of decision‑making.
