General Manager – Mayvn Café (Angel, London)
£37,000–£40,000 + bonus | 40–45 hours per week
Where we Meet – Our purpose is to deliver evolutionary cafe experiences within shared spaces.
We’re looking for an exceptional General Manager to lead Mayvn.
A Kiwi-founded café, within a business incubator in the heart of Angel.
Mayvn sits at the intersection of hospitality and ideas. It’s a space designed for connection, creativity, and community, built on the principles of New Zealand hospitality: thoughtful service, quality product, and genuine human interaction.
This is not a maintenance role. It’s an opportunity to take ownership of a growing concept, shape its next phase, and build something with intent.
The Role
You will lead the café end-to-end, owning performance, culture, and experience. This requires someone who combines strong commercial instinct with an obsessive attention to detail, and who is equally comfortable on the floor as they are driving strategy.
The role offers sociable working patterns for hospitality, with a primarily daytime operation and a structured approach to growth.
Core Responsibilities
- Full ownership of day-to-day café operations
- Building, leading, and developing a high-performing team
- Driving revenue growth while maintaining tight cost control
- Delivering exceptional, consistent service standards
- Creating a strong “regulars” culture and community presence
- Collaborating on product development across coffee and food
- Leading reporting, planning, and operational systems
Key Projects (Next 2–4 Months)
- Weekend Expansion: Design and execute a commercially viable plan to extend trading into weekends
- Premises Licence: Support and lead elements of the application process (personal licence preferred)
- Revenue Growth: Drive footfall through local partnerships, marketing, and in-house initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- A proven leader ready to step fully into General Manager ownership
- Strong commercial awareness (labour, COGs, revenue mix)
- High attention to detail and operational discipline
- A proactive, self-starting mindset with a bias for action
- Ability to balance floor leadership with strategic thinking
- Passion for hospitality, people, and creating meaningful experiences
Specialty coffee experience is welcomed, but not essential.
Why Mayvn
- A chance to shape a purpose-led, design-driven hospitality concept
- Real ownership and influence over how the business evolves
- Support from experienced founders and operators
- Clear pathway toward long-term growth and leadership
If you’re in the top tier of operators who care deeply about the details, the people, and the bigger picture — we’d love to hear from you.
