Interim Payments / Cash Management Lawyer
Contract: Initial 6 months
Location: London (hybrid – 3 days in office, with flexibility for exceptional candidates)
An opportunity has arisen for an interim payments / cash management lawyer to join a well‑established in‑house legal team supporting a large international bank’s global payments and cash management business. The role sits within a collaborative legal team and supports core payments, liquidity, and treasury‑related activities.
The Role
This is a hands‑on position advising on a broad range of cash management and payments matters, including cash pooling arrangements, auto FX, segregated fund letters, and deposit and account documentation. The lawyer will support stakeholders on payments and liquidity flows across jurisdictions, conduct detailed contract reviews to identify legal, operational, and risk issues, and provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice to senior stakeholders. More complex matters are escalated from a dedicated contract management function.
The Ideal Candidate
The team is seeking a banking lawyer with a clear focus on payments and cash management. Credit cards experience is not required, and trade finance exposure will also be beneficial. Supply chain / receivables finance sits with a separate team. Mid‑level or more junior lawyers are welcome, particularly those keen to deepen their payments expertise. Key attributes are strong work ethic, stakeholder engagement, and motivation to learn.
Practicalities
Standard working hours (c.9–6); long evenings are not the norm. Initial 6‑month contract with potential to extend. While permanent roles are not guaranteed, prior interims at this level have converted. The team is reviewing profiles promptly.
