We are seeking a motivated and reliable Animal Technician to join a leading biomedical research facility in Central London. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge scientific research in a highly collaborative and well-resourced environment.
You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of a busy animal facility, ensuring the highest standards of animal care, welfare, and regulatory compliance are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily husbandry duties including feeding, watering, and welfare checks
- Cleaning and maintenance of animal housing and facility areas
- Cage preparation, washing, and sterilisation
- Accurate record keeping, including breeding and stock records
- Supporting licensed procedures (training provided where required)
- Receiving and managing deliveries
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and biosecurity standards
About You
You will have a genuine interest in animal welfare and ideally previous experience working within a research or laboratory environment.
Essential:
- Experience in animal care and husbandry
- Understanding of animal welfare and biosecurity practices
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Basic IT skills for record keeping
Desirable:
- Home Office Personal Licence (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience with transgenic breeding
- Relevant qualification in animal technology or similar
Working Pattern
Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to:
- Work a rota including approximately 1 in 3 weekends
- Occasionally work outside standard hours to meet animal care needs
