Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Overview
Key board appointment with a long‑standing client. The COO leads operational management, ensures business efficiency, drives growth, and maintains regulatory compliance. Reporting to the CEO, the role focuses on leadership, continuous improvement, and strategic partnership development.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Lead and oversee business support functions to deliver high‑quality services.
- Provide training, coaching and mentoring to team members, ensuring competence in legal and regulatory matters.
- Monitor staffing levels to meet customer demands and service levels.
Collaboration
- Work with teams to achieve strategic direction set by the CEO and Board.
- Set targets, perform financial planning and manage risk.
- Coordinate with Production, Commercial, Document Services, IT, and Projects to maintain effective processes.
- Collaborate with Compliance and HR to design quality assurance processes.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement solutions to operational issues.
- Ensure robust data availability for performance monitoring and strategic decisions.
- Analyse internal and external trends to shape product and service offerings.
- Maintain and develop own skills, knowledge and behaviours.
Growth
- Participate in expansion activities, including investments, acquisitions and alliances.
- Assist in raising additional capital to meet sales and market-share objectives.
Reporting
- Provide regular, clear reporting to the CEO and stakeholders on performance.
Relationship Management
- Manage relationships with partners, suppliers and clients as the professional face of the business.
Requirements
The role is open to individuals currently in a key position within a large manufacturing business.
