Head of Pathology IT Services
Department: Pathology | Band: 8A | Salary: £57,528 – £64,750 per annum | Hours: 37.5 per week (flexible working considered)
Responsibilities
- Provide first line specialist Pathology IT support, installation of relevant hardware and software, or escalation to Trust IT team where appropriate.
- Support core systems: Winpath Enterprise, ICE Desktop, eCare, Microsoft 365 suite, Qpulse and other pathology systems.
- Liaise with the S4 network to ensure standard approaches for maintaining and supporting LISM across the network.
- Play an active role in ensuring readiness of CSU for MHRA and ISO 15189 inspections, including updating documentation, Qpulse, initiating quality schemes, auditing, reporting, and communicating with staff.
- Ensure compliance of Pathology Systems with MHRA, ISO 15189 and other quality regulations, identifying gaps and escalating to the Quality Manager.
- Provide first line IT support for the six pathology departments and their essential systems.
- Work directly with suppliers to guarantee 24/7 provision of essential systems.
- Manage all IT assets across the departments, including ordering equipment and supplies.
- Read and understand IT policies and regulations, advising management on required changes to maintain compliance.
- Plan system changes for IT compliance or upgrades.
- Procure IT systems, monitor assets and costs, develop business IT cost improvement plans, and identify cost pressures and asset replacements.
- Liaise with Trust IT to ensure pathology infrastructure aligns with the Trust IT strategy and evaluate new IT systems for functionality and cost effectiveness.
- Prepare and present System Manager reports at monthly Pathology Operational & Clinical Meetings and Pathology Quality and Health & Safety meetings.
- Act as lead investigator for Pathology HR matters directed by the Pathology Services Manager, and provide reports for the Information Governance Team investigations.

The key aim of the role is to ensure that the laboratory has 24/7 access to the data and information needed to provide essential services that meet the needs of pathology users in a timely manner.
