Interim Commercial Officer – Defence (12-Month Maternity Cover)
We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Officer to join a high-profile MOD programme on a 12-month maternity cover contract. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a critical defence project, supporting post‑contract commercial activities within a complex delivery environment.
Location: London (hybrid working options available)
Security Clearance: Active SC clearance required
Contract Type: Inside IR35
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support post‑contract commercial management across a major MOD programme
- Manage supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations
- Handle contract variations, change control, and commercial risk mitigation
- Provide commercial insight and guidance to project and programme stakeholders
- Support dispute resolution and contract close‑out activities as needed
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in a Commercial Officer or similar role within defence or government programmes
- Strong background in post‑contract management
- Prior experience working with the MOD or within defence environments
- Ideally experience with a private sector prime contractor
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills
- Active SC clearance is essential
- Familiarity with defence procurement processes and regulations
- Experience working in complex, multi‑supplier programme environments
