Position: Enterprise Architect

Location: London | Cambridge

Employment type: Full‑time regular

The job

We are looking for an Enterprise Architect, to lead and support enterprise architecture (EA) activities that guide the development and management of business and technology‑driven solutions.

In AVEVA, Enterprise Architects provide the leadership, facilitation, analysis, and design tasks required for the development of an enterprise’s application, data and technology architecture.

  • They create deliverables that help develop target‑state guidance (standards, guidelines, individual parts, platforms and configurations) for evolving the enterprise applications, technology platforms and integration patterns, to enable business strategy and deliver targeted business outcomes.
  • They enable and orchestrate the delivery of targeted business outcomes through facilitating and making technical decisions.
  • They combine a consulting‑style approach to derive a strategic, end‑state vision for where the Enterprise needs to go, with a pragmatic product‑based approach to solutions that can be implemented by AVEVA’s domain‑based engineering teams, using “agile” methods.
  • They convey a consistent message and inspire trust in stakeholders who can rely on them and feel their time is well invested.
  • They are proactive and progressive in action, a change agent adept at collaborating with diverse stakeholders across different domains and levels.
  • They like “the big picture” and operate with an Enterprise mindset, yet they feel the need to dive deep into technologies to understand how they work, so that they can clearly articulate their recommendations to engineers and technical SMEs.
  • They are passionate about experimenting with innovative technologies and designing and implementing enterprise‑wide IT solutions.
  • They challenge the status quo, and they are not happy until they understand the “why” of existing processes and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the current state and derive the future state architecture (applications, data, technology platforms), by working with architecture peers (Solutions, Data, Infrastructure).
  • Evaluate, analyze and rationalize how architectural solutions are aligned, organized and mapped against the future vision and the strategic needs of AVEVA.
  • Act as an advisor, providing insights on new technologies and recommending solutions that support business objectives.
  • Lead the analysis of the current applications, integrations and platforms, including data. Understand and clearly identify technical debt and recommend solutions for improvement, while scanning the horizon for evolving technologies and trends.
  • Work with business leaders, IT domain leaders and relevant stakeholders to provide guidance and oversight to development teams, ensuring decisions are backed by a clear and well‑understood rationale.
  • Assist with designing the governance, assurance and standards activities associated with ensuring enterprise technology architecture compliance of projects and products.
  • Oversee and facilitate the research, evaluation and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations.

Essential skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience of IT systems design.
  • Experience with, and knowledge of, business applications within three or more of the following domains:
  • Commercial/direct Sales (CRM, Salesforce preferred).
  • B2B digital ecosystems supporting indirect Sales and Partners/Resellers.
  • Finance (ERP and Billing, Oracle preferred).
  • Marketing (Campaign Management, Adobe platform preferred).
  • HR (Workday platform preferred).
  • Mastery of SaaS and Cloud concepts and architecture patterns.
  • Understanding of Master Data Management concepts in the context of CRM‑ERP‑Billing integrations.
  • Understanding of product management, agile principles and development methodologies.
  • Understanding of security architecture.
  • Understanding of architecture frameworks and concepts (TOGAF, SAFe or others), and development life‑cycle methodologies such as waterfall, spiral, agile software development, rapid prototyping, incremental, synchronize and stabilize, and DevOps.
  • Mastery of technical concepts and high‑level design patterns involving APIs.
  • Understanding of AI solutions and a clear understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of AI technologies is highly beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Skills and experience

  • Familiarity with Mulesoft is a plus.
  • Relevant vendor or industry certifications.
  • Experience working as a consultant on large, multi‑national projects is highly beneficial.
  • Experience working in the Software/Technology industry is highly beneficial.

UK Benefits include
