Role Overview

Provide operational leadership and expertise across technical laboratories and facilities at Farnborough and Gosport, ensuring safety, security, compliance and availability. Lead and coordinate a team of Facility Managers, work with engineering and delivery programmes to de‑conflict demand and optimise utilisation.

Location & Working Hours

Farnborough (37 hours per week) with visits to Gosport once per month.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide functional leadership to facility managers and support staff.
  • Ensure labs and facilities are safe, secure, compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Coordinate and de‑conflict facility, equipment and resource usage with internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance across H&S, security, governance, audit and accreditation requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities to standardise and improve operations.
  • Support cost centre management and investment planning across assigned facilities.

Essential Experience

  • Experience managing multiple facilities, labs or complex technical environments.
  • People management experience, including professional and personal development activities and monitoring team objectives.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety and risk management, championing best practice and safety culture.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders to balance competing priorities and resolve queries, escalating when appropriate.
  • Experience coordinating operational delivery within a regulated environment.

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree‑level qualification in engineering, technical or facilities discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (desirable).
