Kier – a top‑25 engineering consultancy with 700 internal consultants.Location: Bristol.Hours: 40 hours per week, with some flexibility available upon request.

Job Summary

Senior Engineer in the Design team, working within Structural and Geotechnical Engineering to deliver civil infrastructure projects for clients such as the Environment Agency, Severn Trent, and Mining Remediation Authority.

Responsibilities

• Review and agree technical requirements of the client remit.
• Contribute to the development of fee proposals.
• Organise and lead the day‑to‑day workload of engineers and technical staff within the Design team, ensuring technical compliance.
• Maintain compliance with applicable legal requirements and company policies, including CDM Regulations, the Kier SHE Management System (SHEMS) and Design Quality Management System (QMS).
• Contribute to the financial and commercial management of projects such as progress monitoring, change control, and delivery to agreed programme and budget with support from the Engineering Manager and Commercial Manager.
• Deliver alternative solutions and value engineering to enhance Kier’s competitive position.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience in design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.
• Comfortable using judgement when managing uncertainty and technical risk, whilst learning and working in new areas with support from colleagues.
• Extensive postgraduate experience in the design of hydraulic structures, river engineering, or similar at a senior level.
• Chartered or Incorporated member of a relevant professional institution (e.g., CEng, MICE).
• Valid driving licence to visit various sites and offices.
