Opportunity

Principal Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineer – a highly experienced role responsible for leading EC&I design activities across a portfolio of engineering projects. The position involves producing, reviewing and assuring engineering deliverables across concept, preliminary and detailed design phases, as well as supporting installation and commissioning queries.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and take full responsibility for the delivery of EC&I design work packages.
  • Work within a small integrated design team to deliver design outputs in line with agreed milestones.
  • Independently determine project requirements and ensure design solutions meet functional, safety and regulatory needs.
  • Produce and check engineering deliverables across all design phases.
  • Review and verify EC&I documentation produced by senior designers.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary design documentation including:
    • Project Requirements Documents
    • Basis of Design
    • Project Verification Plans
    • Quality Plans
    • Design Justification Reports

Planning & Control

  • Estimate engineering hours for scope changes or additional work.
  • Provide input to discipline schedules and progress reporting.
  • Support and contribute to formal Design Reviews.

Compliance & Governance

  • Produce reports and documentation in line with CDM requirements.
  • Ensure all design activities comply with relevant standards, regulations and internal management systems.
  • Interface effectively with design teams, facility teams, systems engineering and wider project functions throughout all project phases.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience managing and leading design delivery teams.
  • Strong background in machinery safety and UKCA marking.
  • Demonstrable experience in process instrumentation design.
  • Electrical power and LV services design capability.
  • Clear understanding of required deliverables and design processes across EC&I disciplines.
  • Experience delivering within structured management systems.
  • Competence in estimating, scheduling and progress reporting.
  • Strong collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable

  • Experience with programmable electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of radiometric instrumentation.
