Location: UK – London. Salary: £55,000 – £75,000 per year.
The Contracts Manager will lead the commercial management of Field’s international project portfolio through the development, construction, and O&M phases. Reporting to the Global Head of Procurement, you will join a team responsible for a £1bn pipeline across multiple European geographies. You will act as the primary commercial authority for projects post‑signature, validating variations, managing claims, and overseeing the payment application process with rigorous commercial scrutiny. Beyond execution, you will play a strategic role in refining procurement frameworks and scaling our capabilities in the UK and overseas.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Contract Management & Execution
- Project Lifecycle Leadership: Act as lead on all commercial contract matters from signature to final close‑out.
- Claims & Variations: Rigorously review, assess, and respond to contract notices and claims; manage the variation process to ensure value for money and technical compliance.
- Financial Oversight: Manage contractor payment application process and work with Finance to align monthly project schedules with budget forecasts.
- On‑site Presence: Attend contractor progress meetings to represent Field on all commercial and contractual matters.
- Lessons Learned: Formalise a feedback loop to the wider team to continually improve contract management and future tender activities.
- Sourcing & Tender Support
- Strategy Definition: Help define procurement strategies across multiple capital projects (e.g., EPC full wrap vs. split‑scope).
- Tender Participation: Execute RFI/RFQ activities, pre‑qualify suppliers, and define metrics to evaluate commercial submissions.
- Commercial Structures: Work alongside the Global Head of Procurement to negotiate robust, commercially watertight contracts (FIDIC/NEC) that protect Field and incentivise performance.
- Strategic Scaling & Continuous Improvement
- Process Innovation: Identify weaknesses in existing processes and implement scalable, best‑in‑class ways of working.
- Geographical Expansion: Support the scaling of our construction procurement capabilities in the UK and international markets (Spain, Italy, Germany, etc.).
- Mentorship & Growth: Assist in finding new talent and onboarding team members to build a high‑performing procurement function.

Qualifications
- Industry Experience: Minimum 5‑10 years in contract management or commercial roles for complex construction projects, preferably within the energy sector.
- Contractual Mastery: Practical experience managing EPC or split contracts using standard forms (FIDIC, NEC, JCT).
- Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of high‑value tender activities, negotiation levers and risk‑mitigation strategies.
- Educational Background: Degree educated in Engineering (Electrical, Civil or Mechanical) is required.
