IRT Surveys have been surveying the built environment with infrared cameras for 21 years with more than 560 customers and assessed over 350,000 buildings using infrared thermography and precise energy software. We offer informed, impartial advice and cover the whole of the UK.
Mears has made excellent progress in meeting the carbon reduction and sustainability agenda as a business. Mears supports our network of social housing clients with the full end to end process of domestic retrofit from stock modelling, scheme definition, design, securing available external funding to delivery and outcome measurement. Mears is currently working on client and public funded schemes to retrofit over 3000 homes and has aspirations to be the lead in social housing domestic retrofit.
About The Role
As a Data Analyst, you’ll take ownership of cleansing, transforming and validating domestic housing energy performance data (EPCs), preparing it for analysis and upload into the DREam database. You’ll apply the EPC Standard Assessment Procedure to review and update records, develop a working understanding of relevant retrofit funding schemes, and provide clear updates to the lead analyst on progress, trends and anomalies. The role also involves interpreting thermal imaging data to identify patterns and potential building issues, collaborating with colleagues to determine root causes, and producing accurate, client‑ready reports and presentations. You’ll support client stakeholders through data meetings, reviews and training, while maintaining secure, well‑organised records throughout.
Role Responsibilities
- Understanding of the DREam software
- Cleanse and transform client data
- Analyse, process and upload client data to DREam software database
- Review and make relevant changes to data in line with EPC Standard Assessment Procedure
- Learn relevant retrofit funding schemes
- Deliver initial data meetings, data review meetings and training for client stakeholders
- Feedback into lead analyst on project status, workload, data trends, issues and anomalies
- Analyse thermal images and identify potential issues in various building structures
- Review and interpret thermal imaging data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies
- Work collaboratively with other team members to determine the root cause of issues
- Generate detailed reports on findings and present results to clients and team members
- Maintain accurate records of analysis and ensure data is stored securely
Key Criteria
- Previous experience in data analysis.
- Strong written and numerical skills, with a good foundation in English and Maths.
- Experience and Competent in using Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in using Office 365 with confidence in handling and interpreting data in Excel.
- Ability to interpret technical documents and plans.
- Willing to keep up to date with the latest industry developments and technologies.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within a housing association or local authority setting.
- Exposure to asset management principles or systems.
- Familiarity with energy assessment software.
- Experience supporting or delivering energy efficiency improvements in domestic properties.
