Self-Portrait is a London-based luxury fashion brand known for its distinctive lace, floral, and embroidered designs. With a growing global presence across direct-to-consumer and wholesale channels, the brand operates a fast‑paced, commercially driven environment where the Finance team plays a critical role in supporting sustainable growth.
This role spans two fashion brands — Self-Portrait and Roland Mouret — giving the successful candidate broad exposure across a multi‑entity finance function.
Role Overview
We are looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented Credit Controller to join our Finance team. This is a dual‑brand role, responsible for managing the full accounts receivable cycle for both Self‑Portrait and Roland Mouret. You will be the key point of contact for wholesale and retail account queries, ensuring that debts are collected efficiently and credit risk is managed appropriately.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable & Collections
- Manage the end‑to‑end credit control process across both Self‑Portrait and Roland Mouret, ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices.
- Proactively chase overdue accounts via phone, email, and written correspondence, maintaining a professional and brand‑appropriate tone at all times.
- Reconcile customer accounts regularly and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Allocate cash receipts accurately to the correct customer accounts.
- Produce and distribute regular aged debtor reports, escalating risk accounts to the Head of Finance as appropriate.
- Monitor the credit exposure of key accounts and flag risks proactively.
- Liaise with the Sales and wholesale teams to manage account holds or disputes without damaging commercial relationships.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date customer records within the finance system.
- Investigate and resolve invoice queries, short payments, and claims from customers in a timely manner.
- Work cross‑functionally with the logistics, wholesale, and customer service teams to resolve root‑cause issues.
- Maintain a clear dispute log and track resolution timelines.
Reporting & Process
- Assist with month‑end close by providing accurate AR balances and bad debt provisioning data.
- Support the Finance team with cash flow forecasting inputs.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of credit control processes and procedures across both brands.
- Assist with any audit queries relating to accounts receivable.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role, ideally within fashion, retail, or a multi‑brand environment.
- Strong understanding of the end‑to‑end collections process and credit risk principles.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills – confident and professional when dealing with external stakeholders.
- High attention to detail with a structured, organised approach to managing a large debtor ledger.
- Experience working across multiple legal entities or brands simultaneously.
- Exposure to international wholesale accounts and multi‑currency AR.
- Understanding of fashion wholesale trading terms (e.g. net 30/60/90, factoring).
- Experience working with Stripe, or similar payment platforms.
- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Xero & Zedonk).
- Competent in Microsoft Excel, including use of pivot tables and VLOOKUP for reconciliation and reporting.
